SS4E-HD HYDRAULIC StanGroup
SS4E-HD Hydraulic Multi-Profile Roof and Wall Panel Machine
DESCRIPTION
More power, cleaner panels and less manual work
The SS4E-HD is the premium hydraulic version of the SS4E-PRO, developed for roofing contractors and metal panel manufacturers who want greater power, smoother operation and a higher level of production automation.
It combines the interchangeable profile tooling of the SS4E-PRO with a complete hydraulic drive, automatic panel notching, hydraulic cutting and PLC control. The result is a more stable production process with cleaner panel ends and considerably less manual preparation before installation.
The SS4E-HD is built for companies that want more than a basic portable roll former. It is the flagship model of the SS4E family, designed for professional daily production in the shop or directly at the job site.
Hydraulic power wherever the work takes you
The SS4E-HD comes standard with a Honda gas-powered hydraulic station. This allows the machine to operate independently from the electrical grid, making it suitable for remote construction sites, rural properties and projects where suitable electrical service is unavailable.
The hydraulic system provides smooth and controlled movement through the forming rollers, with more consistent power available for forming, notching and cutting. It is also designed to operate at a higher production speed than the standard SS4E-PRO.
For permanent workshop use, an electric hydraulic station is also available.
Panels prepared for installation
One of the most important advantages of the SS4E-HD is its automatic hydraulic pre-notching system.
Before the panel legs are formed, the machine punches straight rectangular notches into both ends of the flat material. The forming rollers then create the selected panel profile, and the hydraulic shear makes its cut across the remaining flat section instead of cutting through the fully formed panel edges.
This produces a cleaner and easier cut while leaving a consistent 1″ flat tab at each end of the panel. The tab can be folded underneath at the eave as part of a standard roof-edge or drip-edge detail.
Without automatic notching, installers normally have to prepare these panel ends manually using metal snips. The SS4E-HD completes this preparation during production, reducing manual work on the roof and helping the crew complete the installation faster with a cleaner, more repeatable result.
The notching system is controlled through the PLC and can be turned off when not required.
One machine for multiple panel profiles
Like the SS4E-PRO, the SS4E-HD uses interchangeable tooling sets. The machine is supplied with one selected profile configuration, and additional tooling can be ordered as your production needs expand.
Available profiles include:
- 1″ mechanical double-lock standing seam
- 1.5″ mechanical double-lock standing seam
- 1″ snap-lock standing seam
- 1.5″ snap-lock standing seam
- Slotted-flange snap-lock panels
- Clip-style standing seam panels
- Board and batten siding
- Flush wall panels
- Soffit panels
- Underdeck panels
- Custom panel profiles
Each profile tooling package includes the corresponding forming rollers and matching notching dies.
Who is the SS4E-HD for?
The SS4E-HD is a strong fit for:
- Professional roofing contractors producing panels regularly
- Metal panel manufacturers working with several roofing and siding profiles
- Companies that want to reduce manual panel preparation
- Contractors producing panels directly at the job site
- Businesses working in remote areas without reliable electrical power
- Crews that require cleaner and more consistent panel ends
- Growing companies that want to add new profiles without purchasing another complete machine
- Manufacturers looking for a premium hydraulic alternative to standard electric roll formers
SS4E-PRO or SS4E-HD?
The standard SS4E-PRO is a practical and versatile machine for contractors who need interchangeable tooling and dependable electric operation.
The SS4E-HD is intended for customers who want a more complete production system with hydraulic power, off-grid operation, automatic notching, hydraulic cutting and PLC-controlled production.
Both machines support interchangeable panel tooling, but the SS4E-HD removes more manual steps and provides a higher level of automation.
Built for trailer and workshop production
The Honda gas-powered hydraulic station makes the SS4E-HD particularly suitable for trailer installation and mobile panel production.
For a complete mobile setup, we recommend a dual overhead reel rack, expandable arbor reels and a reverse entrance roller set. This configuration allows multiple coils to travel with the machine and feed smoothly into the forming rollers.
For indoor production, the machine can be equipped with a warehouse stand with casters and a freestanding decoiler. An optional electric hydraulic station can provide a practical power source for regular workshop operation.
Trailer and workshop accessories can be ordered together, allowing the machine to move between mobile and in-house production as your workload changes throughout the year.
